Sarah (Yuanyuan) Zhang received her bachelor’s degree from the China Pharmaceutical University in 2001 and her PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (China) in 2006. After one year of post-doctoral research in the Department of Medicine at Hong Kong University, she took a lecturer position in the Department of Microbiology at Fudan University (China), where she continues her research in inflammation and cancer to this day. Her research has been published 16 peer-reviewed articles, and she has been awarded three patents in China as co-inventor of novel technologies based on her research findings. Dr. Zhang has acted as peer-reviewer for a wide range of journals, such as Life Sciences, Chinese Medical Journals, and the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology. Since 2011, she has contributed her expertise to a collaborative effort with other science and medicine professors for administration of Sichuan Journal of Physiological Sciences (ISSN:1671-3885), which is a Chinese Journal founded by Sichuan Society of Physiological Science in 1979, and indexed by China National Knowledge Infrastructure.
